Your wife says you're crazy, but is she actually for or against the piercing?
This should be a big factor in your decision, because if she's totally against the idea, then this will have a big impact in your life, and I would suggest forgetting the idea.

If she thinks you're crazy to get it done, but likes the idea, then go for it! If you do get it and neither of you like it, you can always get it taken out again!
