Right so the wta championships are coming up soon and the top 8 players at the mo will be participating.......but who do you think was the most dominant female player this year?

Serena - (my fave) 4 titles including the us open
Jankovic - Best stamina ever.....how many tournaments has she played?
Safina - Wow.....great year for Marat's little sister!

These are my top 3......but please give your own views!

I didn't follow it much apart from the Grand Slams. Zheng Zie in Wimbledon was my favourite performance, thought she played great tennis for the whole tournament. But she doesn't seem to have built on it much.

Jankovic is good but I think it's easy to judge her more harshly because she's number one. I like her but I don't think she's as good as a lot of the recent number ones were (yet anyway). I prefer Venus's style of play to Serena's, but I suppose style doesn't win trophies. I reckon Safina could go far over the next few years.

Dementieva is a player with a very high ranking and an Olympic gold medal for who 'dominant' is the worst word to describe her...

Ya Zheng Zie was great, and she'll probably do better next year, after she cam back from injury this year, as well as the fact that she has had some pretty tough draws this year, ie Jankovic at the open
