Outlook Express 6 Not Opening Attachments - Help!

Since a recent Windoze update in the last few days, I'm having problems opening attachments in OE6. Even saving them is a problem. File type doesn't matter - jpg / xls / ppt.

When I click on the attached file, OE brings up the usual "an error has occurred, do you want to send the report...etc", and then OE closes totally.

I have made sure the box under tools/options/security is unchecked (Do not allow attachments to be saved......etc)

I have googled for answers, but without luck.

    Any advice or suggestions...?

    All help appreciated...:)

I have had this problem too with a friend's computer and you have to reinstall Outlook Express

By the way, it's better to use Microsoft Office Outlook...

    Thanks for replies.

Have been using OE for quite a few years now and am quite used to it, although open to the idea of changing to Thunderbird, having read mostly good things about it.

But that doesn't get over my difficulties at the moment...

If I re-install OE, am I likely to lose all the exisitng emails? Plus I presume I will have to set up / create the various accounts and settings etc...
