Im hoping to get a digital slr some time in the future(im still saving). Anyway im just looking for some recommendations on a good one for a beginner. I have a canon ixus 70 at the moment and i prefer the settings etc on that compared to the nikon coolpix i had before so id probably prefer to get a canon slr. any ideas?

if ya like canon settings go with canon, nikon is completely and utterly different, prob the biggest diffrence in the two brands

Try the Olympus E-series, I have the E510, and the controls/options are all at a single click away, ie. very user friendly.
Its a great camera to start off with, ie. D_SLR's.
Note: you can always upgrade to a pro Canon later.....

i dont think theres a warranty with it though? you get a 2 yr warranty with it on komplett.

Well you would have a warranty but you'd have to send it back to taiwan. Listen I've been buying stuff off ebay for years and people keep on asking me "oh jaysus what about a warranty".... You rarely need warranties. Nothing has ever broken down on me. If you're unlucky enough to have you camera fail on you, go get it repaired for like 150e and you'll STILL end up paying less than irish store prices overall.

And the guy that I linked to sold me a canon 40d and a 450d + 18-55mm. No hassle. Have they exploded yet? Eh, no. Could they break down? Eh, yeah but I won't worry abut that, I saved my self a few hundred euros.
