Wii & Componant Cable

    Hi there,

I currently connect my Wii to my TV with the Componant Cable, which gives me the best possible video from the Wii.

However, I'd like to run the Sound from the Wii through my Home Cinema System, as its speakers are a lot better than the TV Speakers. The Home Cinema System can accept Stereo Audio Input ( which is basically what the Wii has, the componant cable has 3 video and 2 audio cables ).

So, I reckon I can just put the 3 Video Jacks from the Wii Componant Cable into the TV and the 2 Audio Jacks from the Wii Componant Cable into the Home Cinema System. All good so far...

However, the Wii Componant Cable I have is basically the one made by Nintendo, which has one molded cable that splits into the 5 jacks near the very end of the cable, and therefore the Audio Jacks can't stretch to the Home Cinema System. Does anyone know if any of the generic Wii Componant Cables have more play between the different jacks, and is the quality as good as with the original Nintendo Componant Cable?

Or can I get 'extension leads' for the audio jacks, that I'd plug into the end of the audio jacks from the Componant Cable and then that would give me the extra length I'd need?

I hope all that makes sense, thanks!

    J.

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for that, I was halfway through my post when that solution popped into my head, hence why I put it in at the end. It definitely seems to be the easiest way to sort the problem out. Thanks!

you shouldn't have any problem getting some extension leads.

You should be able to set that up no problem, but what you might find a problem with is syncing the sound with the video. If the sound has to go through sound system and then out, the chances are there will be a delay.

    Be warned.
