Has anyone got this lens ?
    SIGMA 70-300 mm F4-5.6 DG Macro Tele-zoom
Is it good enough, ie. as a cheap tele-photo lens ?
I see it in pixmania.com for €158, seems reasonable.

I had one of these and got some great shots from it, needs plenty of light but now slrs are better at handling noise so not a problem.

I used to have that one too. I found it a little slow to focus, and as Borderfox said, needs light. But for the price I think its a great deal...

Most of these were done with the lens you're talking about, apart from a few wide angles (antying with a kite and board in it, basically).

Well worth the money yes I had it for a while, sold it and bought a canon 70-300mm is afterwards which is a much better lens if you can spare the $$$$.

I have one too - it is grand for the money and certainly does do best with lots of light. If your shutter speed is any bit slow at 300mm you will not get sharp pictures without a tripod. Definately IS/VR would be nice to have in a lens of this focal length, but will add a lot to the price.

Yeah, I see the APO version is just a little more expensive.

Note: I have IS built into the camera, ie. an Oly E510 with an Oly to Pentax K mount adapter. I'm presuming the Sigma (for Pentax) one would fit it............won't it ?
