Beards and half beards

Dear BGHR Brothers I wonder if you could enlighten me to your stance on facial forestation.

Is a beard the ultimate lazy man's accessory ?

Is a half beard a glorious compromise or a cowards way out for those who can not make up their mind ?

Or should a brother retain at least some dignity and pride in his appearance ?

Or does a clean shaven face imply more effort then a Brother actually makes
which then leaves the rest of him free from scrutiny ?

I being a mere woman who has had to much whiskey at this hour ask you to please tell me so that I can go back to worrying about getting the school uniforms washed.

Personally, I think the half beard epitomises everything that a BGRH brother is.

It says I am sexeh, I am lazy, but not too lazy, I have hair, but not too much hair, I has teh facial hair, but not too much facial hair.

So, it is a statement of intent, a qualification that I am, yet I am not, a paradox, if you will.

It itches for the first two to three weeks of growing then it settles down. Never thought about what beard suited the brothers but I can see how the goatee applies. A full long bushy beard, while something every man secretly longs to have, is not exactly suited to the bgrh lifestyle.

MY beard is win - that's all anyone really needs to know. People with beards of all description walk past me on the street and die a little inside cause they know there's no way their beard will ever be as cool as mine. As brother Tom has pointed out, the goatee is the epitomy of cool - nuff said.

im the proud owner of a chin tuft from time to time. I tent to sport the one inch facial hair. To grow a beard long with no itch requires a trim back every 4/5 days, over a period of a month or so.

a beard can be a thing of beaty if maintained properly. I shampoo mine n all ;D However, i have shaved it all off about 2 hours ago for a night out that im just too tired to go to.. alias, boards.ie at 1am

As for the pigtails - they're the most non-conformist neat style I can have the beard in for work - I do occasionally have to leave my office and meet the public. Unfortunately, in 4 Star Hotels they have certain expectations of neat and tidy presentation

And as for the windmill - give me time... My facial hair grows quite slowly - I'm currently on about a year's growth. At this rate, I'll have a windmill in 27 years and will still be younger than that guy

They keep you soo warm though! Hate when you have your beard off and feel the cold chill on your chin.

Not much to see ... just some stubble. Still ... it's a start.

I'll give it till Monday morning and take a pic & post it.

Yes ... that's how cool I am ... my beard will have it's own blog. That's how I roll :cool:

IMO beards are totally for practical uses, i.e. catching any stray food which may fall from ones mouth whilst eating!!

this ensures you dont loose any of that tasty goodness that is food, and nor do you have to have your woman waste time cleaning up when there are more important thing that said time could be spent on!

I use my beard almost exclusively to make my the better half's face itchy when I'm all up to my hi-jinks.
There is one glorious day in beard growth brother trout, and that is the day when side burns have shook hands with chin growth and you now have a glorious line of man-hair framing your chins. That is the apex of the beard, the point at which it turns from a trivial pursuit to a way of life.
And then when you shave it off you realise that somewhere in the year or so you have had the facial hair somebody has stolen your chin.

Beard diary, day, um, 4, I think.

As you may know, I've been on holidays, tradition dictates that I don't wash or shave for the duration.

Attached is a picture of my fluff. I think it is four days worth of growth.

Thankfully, the Internet is not yet capable of transmitting BO.

Beard Diary - Day 2

Good cover on cheeks, heavy growth on chin, sparse on upper lip.
Colour is mostly grey.

Itch score is roughly 1, on a scale of 1 to 10, where 10 is scabies or crotch-rot.

Will post a picture tomorrow, when I get to a webcam.

*wonders what boss will say about beards ... wonders if boss has heard of Movember*

To give my beard the best possible start in life, I have arranged to work from a remote site today.
This means I don't have to shave, nor will my boss be looking at me funny. (unless my boss reads this forum ... :eek:)

I've had a beard since college and only very rarely would I shave it off, until recently, that is.
I always hated shaving, takes ages, usually cut myself and always miss a bit, no matter how thorough I would be.

These days the shaving blades are so much better then they were 15 or more years ago and this makes it so much easier to shave.
It's a personal choice though

These days I'm off work and every few days I'll now shave to give a neat Goatee and now and again I shave it all off.

BTW --> If a beard is kept reasonably neat and clean, there should be no itching or things getting caught in it.

Because I'm partaking in Movember, all facial hair has to be gone when you start, I shaved off my chin beard last night and trimmed the soul patch up... My chin are cold...

I've had either a beard or goatee for around 5 years now I think. Biggest mistake I made was getting rid of it* this winter (summer here, I was in New Zealand) then going into work clean shaven. Normally this wouldn't be so bad, but I was working 1900m up in the snow and wind. Cold doesn't even cover it!


*had to be done as I had cultivated a fine set of handlebars for the wild west themed party and couldn't face going out in daylight with them
