Technomate 6900 Super

I bought a Technomate 6900 Super yesterday in Zintek - 425 euros (Greenhills Rd, Tallaght).
About 10 years ago I had a Pace MS 300 receiver (analouge) and I used to get TV/News feeds on Eutelsat 7 degrees E - EBU - which were sound in sync encrypted. I had a "sound in sync" decoder which worked fine for a year or so but then the EBU feeds went digital and my decoder was unemployed and now 10 years later I am trying to catch up on the digital story.
I would be very grateful if anyone could help me with 3 questions I have which are based on stuff I have read on posts like this.

    1. Is my new Techomate good for picking up feeds from anywhere - what sat?

    2. Do I have to do anything extra to get ITV HD (all I get is "service is currently unavailable" with ITV logo on screen), BBC HD is perfect.

    3. Does the LAN (RJ45) connection do anything or is it for the moment not useable as some of the postings I have read suggest.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    1. It does have blind scan, though functionality of it apparently wasn't great. That said, new software may have fixed this. Haven't used the blindscan myself, as have not had any need to.

    2. As you have the ITVHD logo, you already have ITVHD tuned in OK. There is near no programmes on that "channel"

    Next programme on ITVHD:
    DRAMA: Wired
    On: ITV HD
Date: Monday 20th October 2008 (starting in 2 days)
    Time: 21:00 to 22:00 (1 hour long)

The second episode in a three-part thriller exploring the high-risk world of bank fraud. When Louise's criminal activities are caught on CCTV, Crawford protects her by convincing his boss that she will lead the police to the fraudsters who forced her to work for them. Louise blames herself for Anna's death and turns to Crawford for comfort and support. But when she discovers he is not what he seems, she finds herself becoming increasingly isolated and in serious danger when the criminal gang for whom she worked accuses her of talking to the police.

    3. The LAN port is inactive at present. All you'll be able to do is ping the box, which isn't much use! Personally, I'd hope it'll allow video streaming in future, but won't hold my breath.

One bit of advice: Do NOT load a channel list that was made for the standard Tm6900. It is not compatible with the 6900Super.

Note, that I'm moving this thread to Foreign Satellite, where I think it belongs. One of the lads there might be able to assist you better on best sats to get feeds from.

Some feeds are in 4:2:0 and some are in 4:2:2. The former is the same MPEG format as normal broadcast are are straightforward to pick up if they're not encrypted.

This site is quite useful: http://www.satelliweb.com/index.php?section=livef

For 4:2:2, I think you need difficult-to-find consumer kit with that capability or use a PC and Satellite card with suitable software.

    Hi Guys,

On Technomate 6900 Super can you mix DVB-T and DVB-S channels inside the favorite list?

Hi, while I can't receive DTT to test, it seems you can.

I thought originally you couldnt. But you can. Its a bit silly in that when you set up favorites you have to go in and out of edit mode and have the terrestrial list up to add to your favorites. It treats it diffrently from ALL satelites.

Got one yesterday, i'm very happy with it. I like the way i can have DTT and Sat channels in the same favorite group. Good for quick glance over the EPG.
Very capable menu system, quick and responsive.
Only thing i would mark as minus is that info doesn't show time left for the current program you are watching ( i got used to that feature on my other receiver) and menu graphics is outdated, looks old and tired. Not the best looking EPG. But otherwise excellent machine!

You don't need to go in/out of edit mode to switch tuners / satellites. When you're selecting the channels, simply press the "Sat" button, select the satellite or terrestrial option and then a list of channels from that sat/terr becomes available ...
