    Hi,

Does anyone know if this game is being shown on tv / internet anywhere? Have checked on Sky Sports and Setanta websites and they don't seem to be showing it.

Just had a look and may only be HEC (bit of a joke if they don't have any ECC though!!) but you can try it on match day.

Or just go to the game.

Sorry, you can get live score and text updates here

Too bad 27-10, was it a good match?

First half was good, gave away 2 sloppy tries but scored a cracker, 12-7 at the break. Scrum was a disaster though, lost count of the scrums we lost, 2 props were injured so luckily they were uncontested for the last 2 scrums :o
Connacht made several good line breaks in the second but didn't finish them, Irish played for territory well in the 2nd half and pressure told for the 3rd try. Their 10 was awful, could have been worse for us... kicked several balls straight to touch or over the dead ball line, missed 2 easy kicks in the 1st half too. Connacht were very tired looking at the end.
Keatley kicked very well and Fionn Carr was on fire - finished off the try and made a couple of fantastic line breaks, was nearly in for another but put a foot in touch when he was tackled just before touching down. Liam Bibo showed well too
Great crowd though, haven't seen it that packed for several years. Loads of English fans over was a great atmosphere, good banter between the fans.

I wanted to go but I had loads of stuff to do which couldn't be put off. Can't say I'm overly suprised. London Irish are a competitive side in the GP and last year were HEC semi-finalists. Shame we didn't get close enough for the losing BP, but we can still do well in the group. Glad to hear Carr had a good one. I hope this doesn't knock the good form from the last few weeks and we can get back on track against Edinburgh next week.

Still amazes me Carr & Keatley were let go....

Not a bad result for Connacht. Fair enough, hopefully soon these will be games that Connacht will be expecting themselves to win or get very close, but the progress being made is steady and encouraging. LI are a very good team and it's a very respectable result. How did Keatley play?

Also, is it the 3 best out of 5 second placed teams that go through?

Keatley played well again, some great tactical kicking. If he's not in the training squad for November and Sexton is, there is no god.

It's 3 of the second place teams that go through. Sometimes 19 points gets you through so fingers crossed. Rovigo are the archetypal Italian joke team in the group and Dax can be taken for 4 tries at home.

Hopefully with the performances of late duffy, keatley, murphy and o'connor will get in the training squad. would love to see john muldoon make it but never seems to get a mention despite some exceptional performances

Of those 5 Muldoon is the one who should most get a call up. Duffy hasn't played well enough. Keatley has been kicking superbly, but he missed a couple of tackles last night and needs to work on that aspect of his game. Murphy has played well alright, as has O'Connor, but Johnny needs to stop giving away stupid penalties!

Thought Irish deserved to win but they made some dreadful mistakes particularly Hewatt. Thought our lads were great in the first half but couldn't believe how FLAT they seemed to be from the outset of the second half, particularly when they were playing so well.

However, I can't believe some of the guys here who were at the game haven't mentioned (once again:mad:) some of the crap refereeing. First Irish try they went off their feet and the second was a forward pass. When Ofisa and Johnny O'Concreate broke through roundabout the 60th minute, the Irish player (can't remember who) deliberately knocked the ball down with his fist and then argued with the ref which SHOULD have been a sin binning AND a penalty to Connacht and he just awarded a scrum to us. At one stage when Irish were trying to clear their lines, player stepped back into his 22 and kicked to touch and the touch judge was giving a lineout which the ref thankfully corrected. In the second half touch judge missed 2 forward passes and when a Connacht player was legitmately tackling either Armitage or Tagicakibau threw a punch and wasn't pulled.

Some great performances though, including Muldoon (and totally agree he deserves a call up), Bibo, Carr, Farley, Ofisa, Duffy and Wynne (especially when he was marking Mapasua!). Didn't think Keatley had a good game although his place kicking (ONLY!) was good. Although there was plenty of missed tackles, I actually thought we tackled better in this game, but once again our lads fitness seemed to show again with lads going down with cramp/hamstrings well before the end. As some of the others have said though, I thought we did well and hope this won't feck up the momentum.

Kinda resigned to dodgy refereeing at this stage. Don't agree on the deliberate knock on - our player actually ran outside him and tried to pass inside by throwing the ball almost directly at the Irish defender between them - terrible stuff. I thought he tried to intercept the pass, should have been a scrum ball at most(which we would have lost anyway ).

Agree on the fitness levels, Connacht were out on their feet towards the end, definitely something that needs improving...

Didn't realise it as we were on the stand side and it looked from there like the Irish player just fisted it down. Know exactly what you mean by been resigned to poor decisions but if there is something going, usually the home side will get a bit of edge.....just that NEVER seems to happen in the Sportsground.

LOL, yep we're used to it. Although I thought the ref on Friday wasn't bad. He called a couple of forward passes by London Irish that a lot of refs would have missed. A guy beside me was amazed we were actually getting a few decisions - "does he know its Connacht he's refereeing?" got a few chuckles....

The Challenge Cup has no big name sponsor and therefore no interest so far from broadcasters.
