A man has been jailed for life for stabbing his wife to death over a posting she made on the social networking site Facebook. Wayne Forrester, 34, told police he was devastated that his wife Emma, 34, had changed her online profile to "single" days after he had moved out

Be careful what you write on there!

She's poking in heaven now!

Christ, I hate any social networking related stories!

We know it's dangerous.. we get it.. you're giving it more exposure by publishing stories on it.

He didn't kill her because she changed her status.

He killed her because of a mutlitude of reasons based around their unhappiness as a couple.

LOL - he murdered her but if she cheated it's not that bad of him.
    No sympathy for cheating wives.
    What about cheating husbands?

In fairness, I've often thought about killing people who've changed their Facebook status. Let he who hasn't cast the first stone. It's a natural reaction. You log in, see someone's status has changed, and think "Their number is up. I'm going to beat that bitch/bastard to death with their own dog, and then kill their dog if he's not already dead from being used as a blunt doggy instrument". Can you honestly say you haven't felt this way? Be honest.

Reminds me of my cousin who just changed her status to 'In A Relationship' the day her husband moved out. Sooo tacky - do some people have no idea about morals and what's appropriate? Jeez even if I were in a relationship that fast I would have the decency not to post it on Facebook for all to see.

I'LL FIND YOU TACONNOL. THERE'S NOWHERE YOU CAN HIDE FROM ME. Except maybe Leitrim. I'm never setting foot in that hell-hole. Full of mole people and mono-browed skullduggers.

Given your user name, I would have thought anywhere outside the greater dublin area would have been safe.

Note to self: do not put location of new hideout on Facebook status like last time. Stupid, stupid.

when a judge overreacts, it's "making an example" and a "deterrent to other offenders". Like when people go to prison for uploading torrents. But when your average joe does the same thing, it's "psycho! psycho!"

Exactly pwd. I'm sick of the double-standard. I spend most of my life going out of my way not to kill anyone. And yet, were I to burn down a single orphanage, "society" would brand me a monster. Where's the justice, I ask?

I propose a Three Strikes and You're Out system. Bludgeon somebody to death with a hoover once? A slap of the wrist (50 euro fine?). Push a tethered granny into a torrential, Winter-swelled Liffey? Mandatory counselling. Masking tape a brick to the acceleration pedal of an SUV pointed at St. Patrick's Day parade onlookers, and that's strike three. You're going to jail for a minimum of a month.

I cancelled my facebook a few weeks back ..
I called sick into work on a Monday stating i had 'food poising' I had forgot that I had added my boss as a friend months previous and she was looking on my page at a conversation I was having with my sister.. I mentioned to my sister I was off cas I had a uncurable hangover and I was going to take the Tuesday off too to make my 'food poisning' illness seem more extreme! I then got my first warning from my job ... :(

Yes Kelly you are in fact a bit stupid... and yes I am blonde!

I was a litle disappointed. I thought he couold have at least been creative and slightly ironic and beaten her head in with a book or something.

Wonder if the bitch did cheat on him? Or maybe he was a coke riddled junkie who abused her for years? It would be nice to know the reasoning behind it but I suppose that facebook scares require less effort...

TBH would've been more ironic if she had been poked to death.
