    Hi all,

Currently a Software Test Engineer for a major Telecoms networking company and wishing to figure out my worth in gold if i was to jump ship.

With 2 and a half years system testing (Solaris platform with mainly Java/Corba applications), plus a Masters behind me, can you estimate what side of the 40K a year mark i would be realistically hoping to get if I was successful in applying elsewhere.

    :pac:

I think you would be on about 40k, if you are lucky. (I work in testing - automation engineer - about 5 years experience.)

I don't think you would be worth much more, as you have very little experience.

Depends on the companies and location. I worked as a Test Engineer in a telecoms company for 4 years and was very much on the wrong side of €40k

this time last year there were jobs for 50 - 55k for testers with a few years under their belt. Now 40 -45 seems to be the mark!
there are test management jobs paying 55k now.
it seems contract rates are down too , starting at 300 from what ive seen .
