Flight times - is 1 hour to little for connection?

Do you think we're pushing this a bit much?

Would save us about 200euros if we took these flights rather than London to St Petersburg with BA, but the connection time is just 1 hour!! Is this to much of a risk? What happens if we dont make it, do they just transfer us onto the next plane or do we have to pay again for a new flight?

09:50 12:25 1h 35min London Heathrow (LHR) Frankfurt am Main (FRA) Lufthansa

Flight LH 4725 from London Heathrow (LHR) to Frankfurt am Main (FRA)
Connect in airport 1h (Recommended minimum connection time: 2h)
13:30 18:15 2h 45min Frankfurt am Main (FRA) St Petersburg Pulkovo (LED) Lufthansa

Flight LH 3218 from Frankfurt am Main (FRA) to St Petersburg Pulkovo (LED)
    Return: Mon 01 Dec 2008
    x 1
Depart Arrive Journey time From To Airline Flight
14:20 15:20 3h St Petersburg Pulkovo (LED) Frankfurt am Main (FRA) Lufthansa

Flight LH 3217 from St Petersburg Pulkovo (LED) to Frankfurt am Main (FRA)
Connect in airport 55min (Recommended minimum connection time: 2h)
16:15 16:55 1h 40min Frankfurt am Main (FRA) London Heathrow (LHR)

Do we fancy a gamble or not i suppose....

From my experience it's a big gamble. I've missed a few flights going via Heathrow having 2 or 3 hours - but that was because of delays in Dublin. Heathrow is huge so it's cutting it a bit too close. If you can check in for the connection at Dublin too then that would help but personally I wouldn't risk it.

I'm going to Canada on Tuesday and have 2hrs and was wondering if that was enough to make the connection. You're banking on getting there at the exact time too, which doesn't always happen, as explained above.

nah man dont do it, that reccomended 2 hour turn over is there for a reason, any tiny glitch and your screwed, for the extra few quid your guaranteed to make it, and you can even enjoy a beer or two in frankfurt while your waiting !......... missing flights can really fnuck up a holiday

Looks like it's Frankfurt that they have to worry about the connections, not Heathrow. Don't know what Frankfurt is like as far as needing to switch between terminals is though. In any airport though you'd struggle to get off one plane and onto the next in an hour, you will take maybe 10 or 15 minutes just to get off the plane and find the tv showing you which gate you need to get to and then the gate for the departing plane will be closing around 20 minutes before the listed time. You would have much less than an hour to actually get between the planes.

Your luggage would be very unlikely to make it between the planes as well.

Oh yeah sorry. Frankfurt is huge aswell. I had a connection there and only had an hour and a half when going to Australia. Was late leaving Dublin and when I got to FF I had to get a mononrail, got lost, and eventually found my way, but I was literally running for the check-in desk. Not worth it!

    Cheers for the advice.

Think i may have found another flight for an extra 20quid with 2hr conenction time which should be ok. The flights are first thing in the morning so im hoping there will be no delays from earlier knock on delays.

And im also thinking should we should pay the extra 200euros and fly direct with BA...

It would prolly end up that you'd be seperated from your bags with just an hour layover.

Ya could gamble on the outbound flight being delayed...
