Resetting factory settings on UPC DVR

A few of my channels never come on and I get a message saying - there appears to be no signal , check if the cables are properly inserted at the back of the UPC Media Box. I am going to try restore factory settings to see if this makes a difference, just wondering will this delete all the stuff I have recorded on the box?

Was the stuff there when it came out of the factory?

I'd be fairly certain it will wipe it. You'd be better of getting on to UPC as it may be a fault in the area / your account and not with the box.

Just seeing if anyone had actually done it to confirm.

Cable. A few of the setanta's, a few musics and a few +1's. Not very important channels but Im paying for it so I should be getting it! Its more the annoyance of flicking on to one of these channels and getting the error message then if I change the channel I need to press guide to clear the error message off the screen as it will stay there otherwise, no matter what channel I choose.
