Marriage Certificate

    Hi,

We got married in July just gone and sent off the state documents after the wedding. However we didn't receive any confirmation letter that they received them or they didn't post out a marriage cert. We're a bit worried they didn't receive it, is it normal for them not to post out confirmation? Also we're still on the same tax bands we were when we were unmarried, do we have to do something else to change this?

    Thanks in advance

You need the marriage cert to go to the tax office to get your tax bands changed.
I suggest you ring the office of the register that you sent the forms to and enquire as to why it hasn't been processed.

We got married in August and we still got no cert...

Will we pay less tax once we set ourselves up as a married couple?

    Hi,

I got married in August and like you was expecting to receive a cert in the post. It didn't arrived so when I look into it, it turned out that I had to apply for the cert and pay for it. I did this on-line and it arrived from Roscommon in a few days.

    Hope that helps.
