Saw something on the road last night

    I'll present to you this - and make what you want of it;

Driving home last night around 8.45, was dark obviously, and on a narrow windy road with trees either side. No other cars/people around. Not a windy night either.

Saw what I can only describe as a cloud hovering over the side of the road for a few seconds, which proceeded to travel across and up into the air over the car as I approached..

Gave me quite a bad shiver down my spine afterwards.

It didn't have a human form really but it was dark gray, opaque and weirdest thing of all it had a outline.. Interesting thing was that I can't shake the feeling that I felt it was a female presence.. How I know that I haven't a clue, can't explain.

Turns out when I mentioned this to someone living on that road, they said it had been seen before. Apparently someone hung themselves there years ago in the same spot.

I'm not a skeptic nor a real believer but that was certainly weird to see.

ia there a river anywhere near the road? I only ask as my own house is not too far from a river and some nights I'll drive through very small wisps of fog which seem very similar to what you are describing

First thing I'd think is there has been spots of mist the last few nights, where abouts are you based?

Where did this happen? was there any marshland nearby?

Unfortunately it sounds like mist might be the answer on this one.

It was probably chilly, you should make sure to bring an extra sweater next time

Ha hilarious, showed this to my friends and we were all cracking up. You thought the mist/cloud was female? priceless, you should join martin king on the weather and let the viewers on tv3 know what sex the clouds over ballybunion will be tomorrow.

Firstly you should send the men in white coats round to pick this lad up as he obviously is quite a few sandwiches short of a picnic. Secondly check yourself in to your nearest mental hospital for a few weeks. your obviously crackers too

And the award for the most obvious troll of all time goes to....
Would have to say OP that it does sound like this could be put down to mist or fog...

If someone see's something and it appears out of the ordinary to them, than thats what it is.Unless you were sitting next to him at the time its no good saying its this or its that.Im sure he has seen mist hundreds of times while driving at night as has all of us, so obviously to him it was more than mist, couple this with the fact their is a legend associated with the spot then that makes it all the more strange for the observer.

I'm a little dissapointed with some replies but nonetheless..

It was a cool dry and very clear night, it was definitely not mist, I've seen mist a hundred times driving.

Very hard to explain it without it sounding like mist, I myself upon reading this would have suggested the same.

how fast where you driving? Sounds like it was stationary and as you passed it drove through it as it was being blown slowly across the road. Sounds very much like mist but that would still scare the crap out of me if i came across that on a dark road, would make wanna srive faster ta get home

Could it have been smoke, take a trip back to the spot in daylight and look into the field behind the trees for evidence of a camp fire.

I have seen exactly the same type of thing many times, even exhaust from a car in front (if there was one) can act like that when its cold.

Had something similar happen to me a few months ago. Around that time I kept seeing in my meditations etc a speed bump in Carnew, kept dreaming about it to, nothing to scary just a little weird and persistant. Then of course on leaving an investigation in Wicklow Goal, car parked next to Lou's had a big CARNEW O8 written on it. Of course when somthing like that has been on your mind you tend to spot it everywhere, so no mistery. The following morning driving home from Lou's I approach the spot I had been dreaming etc i was going slow as its a pretty big car recker of a speed bump then off and from the side of the road, mid tree level a cloud, milky white in colour came to dead centre of the road, stopped and then vanished, and i say vanished as it didn't seem to disperse, just gone, it did make me hit the break. No other cars on the road in front or behind me at that time. Nice clear morning. ONly thing I know of was a young girl had been knocked down in Carnew a few years back but I couldn't say if that was the spot of the accident. Never dreamt or had the spot come into a meditation since.
