Spent a day in the poker room at Foxwoods casino in Connecticut. Had a good run and of 5 sit and go's won 3 and was second in one. When I went to claim the winnings the cage automatically retained 30% in federal taxes because I was a non resident. Has anyone gone through the process of reclaiming this?

if u cash out for more than $5k they retain 30% of american citizens.
as an irishman, u should of filled out a form there, and they should of given u the full amount.
basically u have to get a us tax number.
most casinos are aware of this, and once u tell them u are not american, they should of set u up with the proper form.
the form u need is called a W7.
