    Hi CBond,

I am an IT Trainer since 2002. I started out working for Fas through independant training companies whom I worked for as a contract trainer. I did this for 2 years, but found that when one course ended I could be waiting up to 6 weeks, luckily no longer, for my next contract.
I started to fill this time by teaching evening and community courses. This was fine, but I had days where I was teaching for 2 hours in Louth in the morning, and maybe that evening teaching in Kildare. It was fine for a while but not very economical.
Eventually, after 2 years I started contracting for a training company that serviced the corporate market. The day rate was much better here, and so have been the opportunities.
I am currently co-managing said training company. At the moment we are on the look out for IT Contract Trainers from around the country to add to our database.
I know VEC rates are very good, you have to register with them first - and then hound them, I registered 3 times over the years as each time I checked my registration it had not been processed and no one knew anything about it. I've heard it helps if you know someone working for or within the VEC.
I have never really come across full-time positions as a trainer - but then I have never really looked. I like contracting.
Hope this is of some help!

How do you find teaching IC3. Do you use benchmark and mentor?
