    Guys,

Read the sticky before I bought a cheap set top box in London for my sis in Wex. I got the BBC Digital stations but nothing else. Would a more expensive box get them or is that all Im gonna get. Also got the audio for the Irl TV but no Picture, presume thats the MPEG4 issue.

its not your box that is the problem--the signal is not yet on full power-untill the UK change over--i live near blackpool and i have poor reception-you can try a better aerial that is the the most important part --best of luck

Well the box is the problem why he is only getting audio on the Irish channels. Ireland is using a different technology for digital TV (MPEG4) while the UK uses MPEG2. Your UK purchased box will never pick up the Irish channels properly.

    Amplifier required for aerial!

I know someone that is using a Netgem box in Gorey and is picking up all of the freeview channels with an aerial and amp.

Yes the box you have is an MPEG2 box so you will not get the pictures fromn the Irish DTT as it uses MPEG4.

Yes but if you can find a Humax 2000 HD box it receives the Irish DTT test and all the UK channels if you have a strong signal in Wexford.

Some friends in the Cavan area can get them from the North and the Irish one fron Dundalk transmitter.:D

Have a look here > http://www.blake-uk.com/page/home Give you an idea of what to source here.

It might be better to get a decent aerial in the long term, before trying to boost a poor one. What you have to remember is that you are pulling the signal from Wales! DTT can be unstable when the signal is weak and you get the pixalation rather than the fuzzy picture.

There is a similar thread over on digitalspy which may help you. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=572838

alternatively, get a satelite dish for freesat for total stability.
