Brad Johnson to be his replacement.

I have to say I hate Romo. The infantile tantrums, the poor throwing that's everybody elses fault, the Romo moments when he makes knuckleheaded throws twice a game, the inability this season to sense pressure. He's having a fairly poor year but of course cos he's a star now he'll still end up in the Pro Bowl ):

Yeah I wonder how good Romo would be be without the all-pro O-Line in front of him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,330 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

Bit harsh on Romo. He's a more than capable QB and it snot his fault he has a quality receiving corps and an outstanding O Line

Romo's very good. he's at the stage where he's gonna be compared with Peyton Manning, Tom Brady etc. and already people hate Brady or Manning.

It's not Romo's fault he has so many weapons around him, that's just the team.

You also have to remember that Romo went undrafted. To get to this point of the limelight and to be considered in the Top 10 or even five quarterbacks is fairly incredible.

He's not in the same league as these two. It's not just the numbers these guys produce, it's the plays they make, the games they win. Romo is competent enough, but he's not close to a Manning or Brady.

He plays for the cowboys, that's why. If he played for the Arizona Cardinals do you really think people would be making a song and dance about him? He's definitely not a top 5 QB IMO

Part of his fame can be attributed to who his missus is too.

Part of the reason some hate him has to be this too, it would seem

I absolutely despise the Cowboys but I can't see how anyone can hate Romo. He plays fast and lose and generally has a great attitude

REally, I remember his hissy fit in the playoffs last year. That's a great attitude, when the chips were down he lost it. Against the Cardinals how many times did he hugely overthrow TO, often by 10 yards? He also got bailed out by the officials when he should have given up a TD, tuck rule my ass, he had bailed out of the throw and was trying to protect the ball.

FFS, none of this makes him detestable in anyway.

Romo is a good QB with alot of potential still and a lot to learn Dont forget he went to a low end College and still made the Pros. Some of the IAFL guys will remember Seth Larson who ranked higher than Romo in his senior year in fact Romo was 3rd in the pecking order that year in High School. But that doesnt make Romo any less of a QB as he made the pros and is in my opinion one of the best QB's in the NFL his abilities are there. Both Manning and Brady have had seasons of terrible games and bad moments FFs give Romo some breathing room he will be easily a top 5 QB. You got to love when peoples personal opinion of a guy affects there judgement on how good he is. I bet if Romo didnt play for the Cowboys and played elsewhere and didnt fook Jessica Simpson people would respect him and his the numbers he has put up so far in his career.

If you hate Romo that badly I can't imagine what you think of Phillip Rivers...

Can't blame Romo at all really he threw for 321 yards the second highest passing total over the Weekend and made things happen. Should be interesting to see how Brad Johnson gets on he won't win games but he won't lose many. Their Offensive line needs to step up though I was watching the Cardinals game and couldn't believe they would allow the Punter McBriar to get injured.

True test of time for Wade Phillips though

I dont have much gripe with Romo, think he still a bottler but imo there is a huge amount of potential in him, he needs to mature and become a leader though, then he will really be able to step up and call himself a great

he has started off this year the way he ended last year (poorly) and maybe a little time on the sidelines will be good for him

Ah lads, hate jsut means dislike when it comes to sport. I have some respect for Rivers for what he did last year in the conference game which showed a lot of courage but he too is whiney and infantile, witness his little temper tantrum at Cutler.

In fairness Rivers is a ****. Decent player though

:pac: I dunno why really, but the typo had me in stitches.

    Cant stand either QB.

It may not be quite as bad as it seems though, for the Cowboys bye week falls while Romo is out, so that means he only misses 3 games. If they are half the team they think they are, they should be able to beat the Rams(even if the Redskins couldn't), then they face a home game against the Bucs and a difficult away game against the Giants.

So if they are true Superbowl contenders, they should at least beat the Rams and Bucs, meaning they would be at least 6-3 when Romo returns.

Looks like the Cowboys have a little more firepower in the Wide Receiver Corps even though they gave up a ridiculous amount of picks just to get him

    Link

Thats a MASSIVE price to pay for a WR. Surely there are better things those picks could have been spent on

More bad news for the Cowboys, Adam 'Pacman' Jones has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL. The suspension will be reviewed in four weeks.

Jones loss affects the Cowboys secondary and their special teams as he was returning punts.

Don't get me wrong, he's good, but IMO if he didn't play for Dallas he'd be rated no higher than a Carson Palmer or a Trent Edwards, to fine QB's, but not two of the best ever (like Brady and Moss)

I was just thinking about starting a thread asking people to name their top five QB's that are currently in the NFL.
Then I started to think about it and after Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger and Brett Favre I find it hard to come up with a fifth that deserves to be mentioned in the same sentence.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,341 ✭✭✭✭Chucky the tree

I think Carson Plamer is an excellent QB and probaly the 5th player I'd have on my team.

Rivers and cutler would be in with a shout too.

Funny, I came to the exact same conclusion myself. It's those four, and then quite a gap to fifth.

McBriar broke his foot also in the game with the blocked punt at the end of the game.

Never rains but it pours for the Cowboys.

I say keep that bad luck coming since I am on NY for the division at 7/2

Im a big Roy Williams fan. Hes a very good player (boy can he jump for those high balls) a perfect complement to TO and the last piece of their offense. But it was a huge price, a 1st, 3rd & 6th round draft pick for a 7th and Williams. A great deal for the Lions as the player was gone at the end of the season anyway. I think Jerry Jones got outdone on that deal.

Jones must have a verbal agreement on a long-term contract with Williams cos that's a hell of a lot to give up, they only have a second and two sevenths now right?

    Top 5 QBs
Brady, Manning, Cutler, McNabb and Brees would be my top 5 QBs.

They extended his contract tru 2013, $9 million a year.

The same a year as TO but he gets more guaranteed money

Yeah, saw that afterwards, rumour is region of $50 mill, that's two $10 mill a year receivers in essence. Lotta money!! And I'm a huge Roy Williams fan and think he'll be superb there

All those Weapon on their reciever core and now no QB to throw to them for 3 games. Be interesting to see how Johnson gets on now he has that monster O-line in front of him and those WR's.

i think Johnson will do fine with the o line and receivers he has in fairness, he isnt a bad QB anyway and he will have great protection and great targets, not a huge issue imo
