    Hi,

I work as an on road Engineer, for the last 2 years. I basically work for a company that fixes pc's small networks etc. my boss wants me to learn some server stuff so we can get into that also.

I am confused about the new microsoft layout, what i want is a cert with vista and Server 2008 is this possible? Even if i don't use 2008 in my job it will be good to learn some server stuff for the future and be good for my CV!!!

    thanks

    Paul

    vista exam:

    I recommend MCITP:enterprise support technician.

2 exams, both a doddle, easy place to start.

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcitp/entsupport/default.mspx

    2008 exam:

    I recommend MCITP: server administrator

    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/mcitp/windowsserver/2008/server/default.mspx

harder exams, will require alot of exposure to server 2008. try and get free training out of your boss.

The Vista client exam is quite easy and a handy way to get into the whole MS Certification thing.

The road for you would probably be
    1. MCTS Vista
    2. MCITP Enterprise Support Technician
    3. MCITP Server Admin
    4. MCITP Enterprise Admin

The Enterprise admin requires the Vista exam and its a very high end cert.

You will need exposure to Windows Server 2008 and if you arent working with it day in day out it can be a bit difficult. If you are currently doing mainly Windows 2003 systems, I would concentrate on getting the MCSA using the Vista MCTS cert as your elective (yes its possible to do that!)

Just do 70-290,70-291,70-270 and 70-620 and you will have the MCSA with the Vista cert as well giving you MCP,MCSA 2003 and MCTS Vista. From there you can do 1 upgrade exam to (70-648) to MCITP Server Admin and then its a 2 exam sprint to MCITP Enterprise Admin.

So plenty of options out there
