    thanks lads!!
I have a question though... Most of the pictures I took in Howth have LOADS of noise in them. (I know the long exposures introduce noise) but there was even more than usual. I had the iso down at 100....any ideas?

The last shot is brilliant. Love the colours, the reflection, and the composition.

The colours in the first two are a bit dull, obviously due to the overcast sky, but the last two shots have a great colour to them, #3 is a bit cluttered, but #4 is terrific!

Long exposurese generate noise because the sensor is heating up as it is active for longer, ironically the way to avoid this is 1 higher the iso and 2 make sure the long exposure noise reduction (in camera) is on (if you want it) You can stick them into something like noise ninja to clean them up but your second and last shots are fantastic.

ah so actually increasing the iso helps? if you increase the iso will this affect how long you leave the shutter open or does it just mean less noise not sure if i have a long exposure noise reduction....ill check. thanks so what iso would you use say for about a minute shutter speed and say f11?

Love the last ones, they work well, the first looks a bit over saturated though.,

+1 on the last two. They look a tad oversaturated on my (admittedly uncalibrated) screen though. All the same, lovely shots, great composition and reflections. :)
