Hi there,
There is an issue with role permissions that is being worked on at the moment.
If you are having trouble with access or permissions on regional forums please post here to get access: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058365403/you-do-not-have-permission-for-that#latest

It mightn't be a classic but you don't see these much any more..

Skimming through Evil-Bay and found this...

    http://cgi.ebay.ie/4x4-lada-niva-1994_W0QQitemZ320308548223QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item320308548223&_trkparms=72%3A1301%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

I'd say it took some work to get it through the test...
I'm not sure which is more amusing... the fact that someone saved this, or reading the add text. :D

That's the venerable Lada Niva 4x4 - A legend in its own right. Why on earth wouldn't someone save it? They're a great offroading machine and certainly one of the best to come with that brand affixed to its bonnet.

If you're going to pick a now somewhat rare machine, then look to have a laugh at it here on the classics board, at least try to read up a bit on it first. These are really a very respectable car, and apart from the badge and the poor-ish quality steel (and no galvanising) they're really rather nice for what they are. Well worth saving. :)

It's also much more suitable for someone looking to pick up an older and maintainable 4x4 than something like a knackered old jap Vitara you'd pick up for the same money.... I should know, having owned both. :o

    yes i remember those

i also remember a 4x4 type national championship where two gardai were driving one of these un modified and kicked the pants off toyotas, landrovers, pajeros and suzukis and won the event,i think it was in punchestown.

there is something about the gearbox that sticks in my head and it think the have good diffs in both axles

while they maybe not too nice looking a work horse they certainlt are.

I think the OP is laughing at the ad test rather than the actual car. And the ad text is funny.;)
There was a similar one on carzone a while back, LHD but looked to be in excellent condition. From memory, an Irish family had bought it while living in Moscow and driven it home.

The one that came over from moscow has since been driven to mongolia and back.

that white one is what the guy who drove to mongolia was going to take till the moscow one popped up.

it was fairly solid underneath bar one small crack in the chassis that I welded up. mechanically it only needed a few small jobs doing to it.

not the prettiest admittedly but it's a fairly solid little yoke.

    Indeed...

I remember looking at one in a showroom when they arrived here first... The wiring looked home spun with relays into the bulkhead with self-taping screws..

1994 lada niva ,just pass nct on the 24 september ,did lots of work on it to get it back on the road as it was of it for the last 5 years , 4 new very big tyre worth 120 euro a piece ,new water pump all under body treated with antirust paint . new side lamp , ad rust holes in engine bay were all treated cut out and closed with glass fiber , engine as been fully serviced by my mecanique , and all probleme that was stopping the nct sorted and the list was long ....did cost me a lots of money and time to get right , and when finally i was going to enjoy the product of my hard work , a new project landed in my backyard and it will take way more money that previously thought and i need to fine some new found , starting price is low , to be noted there is no power steering , and its not made for speed but you can take it to any offroad trip you want this car just love it ideal for any farmer or offroad entusiast , with the advantage of the nct and the road tax already there , chippest 4x4 with low milleage , tax and nct you will find
