    Hi,
We are planning to have an old Elvis song for our first dance at the wedding,
We are undecided if we should get the band to play the song or have it played on cd?
Obviously it would feel nicer to hear it performed live but we are afraid that it might not sound the same if the band cover it?
Dont want to sound cheeky to the band either?
Has anyone any experience of this?
    Thanks

We went with the band, but we'd probably go CD if we had the chance again. It wasn't the same!

The band we had put the song onto an MP3 player and played it through their sound system. They didnt want to run the risk of the CD skipping on us. Sounded excellent.

Would your band cover a lot of Elvis stuff as part of their normal set? For all you know, they could do that song week in, week out.

Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about it - if you don't want to risk it, then go with a CD or MP3. Just bear in mind that it won't make or break the day either way - by the time you have gotten through making your speeches and all that, you will be glad to let your hair down.

Im not too sure if they do much Elvis stuff themselves but even if they do, it obviously wont match him,
We might just go with an MP3 to be safe, even though id would be nice to have it performed live, but as we know, the king is dead!!

Go with the Cd if you want to hear the song as it should be, otherwise you could end up with an out of beat/tune version depending on band.
some nice first dance song videos on the wedding page of my site.
