Camden Market is excellent! Loads of stalls and shops, with great food too! Oxford Street is good, but we have most of the shops here. The Topshop is MASSIVE though.

I don't think there's much high street fashion that is exclusive to London any more.
It ain't the 80's, we have a lot of the same shops, bo-ho boutiques that stock unusual things or we can order online.
Enjoy wandering about and just shopping at a cheaper price* - don;t go with a shopping agenda or you may be disappointed.

    * most UK stores still have their sterling to euro conversion at 50% in their Irish branches, so shopping in UK is cheaper at those stores

Camden, first and foremost. Get the Camden town tube or the Mornington Crescent tube. Northern Line I think. Gilgamesh down near Camden Lock has some great shops and stalls, as well as really cheap food. There's an American Apparel there.

Oxford St (Uniqlo for cheap knits), Neal St (the area around Covent Garden for Urban Outfitters, vintage shops, FCUK, Mango etc), Kensington (for Harrods and Harvey Nichols). Portobello if you're into antiques and stuff, also try Spitalfields for more unique clothes.

As for hotels, try lastminute.com for some deals. I booked a really great hotel through them on one of their deals, it was literally a stone's throw from Charing Cross station, and all the shows on the West End. I'd recommend Avenue Q if you're going to see a show, and buy Time Out because they often have money off vouchers for shops and restaurants, and have the best club/exhibition listings around. It also has a shopping section.

The Carnaby St area has lots of shops that people like, it's not far from Oxford Street (around the corner), Liberty for designer stuff, Harvey Nicks for the sales (much better than the one here). Selfridges sales are fairly poor. There's a second hand designer shop (or vintage as people like to call them) around the corner from the tube station in Notting Hill that you can pick up the odd bargain in, Nicole Fahri shoes for £30 for example. The other places I'd recommend are all listed already.
~Haven't been but a lot of people recommend Beyond Vintage in Shoreditch
