iMac or Macbook Pro

Mostly I surf the net. The most taxing thing I do on my Mac is Photoshop and this accounts for about 5% to 10% of my computer use.

I could get the 24" iMac 3.06. This gives me the fastest and biggest computer I could wish for. Can it get any better? The glossy screen is an issue as I am situated next to a window that gets the evening light.

Or I could buy the 15 " Macbook Pro. If i decide that a laptop is for me, I may stretch to the 17" model. Man, they are so...ooo expensive. I am inclined towards this model. I do not need portability ATM, but it is nice to have. I already have a 22" monitor which, I hope would be utilised with the laptop for my Photoshop work.
A 24" iMac would render my present 22" screen redundant. As you can see, I am leaning towards the MBP, even though it really f****** dear, but I would really appreciate some input here. I would hate to see my present 22" wide, flat screen monitor wasted. I love it and it is not glossy. The MBP would allow me to extend this desktop, but the 24" iMac is one serious bit of kit, and hard to ignore price wise.

If the most taxing thing you do is Photoshop and you already have a screen that you like, I really don't think you need either: a Mac Mini with the RAM beefed up should do you fine. Alternatively a MacBook, which you can hook up to the screen, giving you the option of portability (but a glossy screen) should you ever need it. I run Photoshop on my 1.83GHz Core Duo MacBook, (it's version 7 for Windows over VMWare Fusion, but I can't see CS3 or whatever you're working with requiring an MBP or anything like 3.06GHz. CS4 lists a G5 as the minimum processor required, and even the current entry model Mac Mini is several steps above that).
