hiya as there is so many of us doing the dublin marathon i was wondering would anyone be interested in having pacing groups.
myself and peckham are planning on running together to try break 3 hours so if any one wants to join us then great.
i see from the other thread that there is numerous people trying to break 4 hours 3:30 etc etc so would any of ye like to have a running/pacing partner or group.
now i know you might not finish together as some people slow and some keep the required pace but i think it would help to have someone to run with firstly for keeping the pace and secondily for motivation/encouragment.
    so what do ye think?

and if any of us do meet up, as ther is so many of us could we organise somewhere to meet after the marathon for anyone who is staying over i will probabily be alone so wouldnt mind meeting up to here a few marathon war stories and have a bit of crack

    thanks.......it wont be long now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good idea Sungod I'll be aiming starting at 3:30 pace, if anyone wants to join me, My plan is to hold on to 8 min miles for as long as possible.
As far as meeting up for a few pints I'd be on as none of my friends have any interest in running and hate it when I talk about it, so count me in.

Yup I'm staying up after the marathon - and if I'm in any fit shape to move afterward's I'll be on for a pint and probably 4,000 cals worth of food if available.!

    Target time: 3:25
    Target Pace: 4:45-4:55/km (7:45-7:50/mile).
Starting: Middle of the pack (sub 3:30 if there's a marker).
    Pacing: Forerunner 405

i havent posted her because i wasnt sure how best to put it, but i'll have a crack.

i would be interested in some sort of pacing group. my target time is under 3:30l....the lower the better.

the problem is im kinda worried about/unsure of what sort of pacing i should go for. if i comitt myself to a pacing group thats too slow i could get my out loud time but i may also be able for a better pace...if i pick a pacing group too fast i could tire myself out and miss both.

when i did the half marathon, my only proper timed run ever i wasnt trying for a time, just to see how i got on.this time its different so its important i get my pacing right.

I'd agree with you totally, John. It's one time, where I feel I need to be 100% selfish (OK, maybe 90%!). On the day I'll be a slave to my heart rate and how I feel, rather than pace.

is there a heart monitor in your Forerunner 405?

Definitely would be on for some pints that afternoon with anyone else who is around.

And just to echo what Sungod says - any other sub-3 lurkers here, make yourself known and join our pace group, especially if you've already gone sub-3!

Yes, there is. I don't really need it anymore, however, it serves as a good alarm wake up call for me, if I'm pushing too hard. Sometimes (likely due to inexperience) I'll find my pace wandering, and end up running way too fast).
