Good Video cam to start out on

I'm in the process of shooting some shorts but am lacking one key element, a video cam. Looking for one that's not so expensive but will stil do a good job and is easy to use....I don't mind second hands but any advice would greatly br appreciated. Also maybe on the look out for some sound equipment so please advise…

Hi I would suggest either

Canon XH-A1 HD Camcorder PAL
Sony HVR-Z1 HDV Camcorder
Sony HVR-V1P HDV Camcorder PAL

all between 3000 - 6000 euro.
I realise this is a bit late in the day seeing as you posted in July, let me know what you got and if it was suitable. how do you rate the camera you got!
