Avoid using the mixes, make it yourself with fresh lime and rim your glass with salt. If your catering for a large group i recommend Finest Call Margarita mix which you can buy in The Celtic Whiskey shop or the odd Dunnes Stores. Mixes usually have high sugar content, and the only sugar you'll find in a margarita is the Tequila and Triple sec.

Thanks for the help, I will look out for the finest call..... I would use fresh lime only it would take forever to squeeze enough limes for just one drink and i cant seem to get fresh lime juice anywhere either :(

If anyone is ever short of finding proper mixes and cocktail syrups, log onto http://www.kegworks.com/

Has alot of useful tools for bar preperation and cocktail preperation as well, and at a decent price due to Dollar to Euro. Try to Fee Brothers bar cocktail mixes. Premium high quality that you find easy to get in Ireland. I usually order all the nightclubs bar equipment from them. Or try www.barproducts.com

    Perfect Margarita:

    Double shot of Tequila
Single Shot of Cointreau or Triple Sec
Single shot of fresh lime juice (this is only about one lime or so)

Rim the glass with sea salt if you wish.
I just pop the above mix in the freezer for ten minutes to get it really cold.

The better the Tequila - the better the Margarita!

Really - don't use those awful mixes, it's so easy to make fresh.
