I'm looking for a Glen Miller style band for a corporate event.
Very difficult to find so far. Could anybody recommend anyone?? And websites that might be useful.

    Thanks a million:)

Be wary of all the self plugging on here.

Get onto a decent Entertainment agency, it's leaving it pretty late but just ring around you should get sorted.

    Hi!
Skazz could do your xmas partys!! We are a six piece Jamaican Ska / Reggae band based in Clare. (Also play a bit of Latin if you like!) We are playing the Cork jazz fest in a couple of weeks, and we have done several festivals in England, Germany and Ireland. We are also doing a very important benefit gig for Cari Foundation(children at risk in Ireland) on 30th Oct at the Village, Dublin....so you could always come and see us in action...and support a very worthy cause at the same time!
you can look us up on www.myspace.com/skazzie where there are some nice reviews, comments and also some of our music...SKAMITE is our own tune.
We do a 3 hour set, and guarentee to have everyone dancing all night! hope to hear from you

And why wouldn't people recommend their own band?!

What's wrong with that? People are giving the links to samples of their work so it's not like anyone is trying to deceive anyone else!

Because at best it's inherently biased and not taking into account the OP's needs and at worst it's thinly veiled shilling.

It's like asking a bunch of taxi drivers "where can I find a taxi?"

we regularly hire a band called "the tributes"
they are amazing, play all genres, xmas stuff etc and very reasonably priced

Do you not think that the opening poster came to the Musicians forum because he/she thought there would be musicians here?

The people in bands here have offered the OP what he/she was looking for.

You have offered nothing but cynicism. It's unnecessary.

Nope, it's unnecessary to just post a random link to an act you are personally involved with. At least have the courtesy to make it clear you are self promoting or the cop on to do it via PM.

Well they can listen to the myspace links provided to them and make up their own minds on the quality.

What does it matter who the band are? If they're good, they're good. I don't see where courtesy comes into this.

"I'm in a band and we'd like to help" (fine)
"Check dis band our der rappah" (borderline shilling/touting for business)

That's where courtesy comes into it. Anyway nobody seems to care so on with yizzer lives.
