I go to the gym at lunch, and I think I am getting a lot of colds from the sweaty rush back to work in the rain/cold.I have read that more protein is the answer. Vitamin C is an obvious one.Any other tips for avoiding colds?

When those around you are coughing and spluttering, take extra care to wash your hands regularly and keep your hands away from your face.

vit c and garlic supplements are usually a good combo for getting through the winter cold free. Incorporate garlic into your cooking. Also, take a multivitamin supplement if you feel a bit tired and run down.

home-made juice (orange, apple, carrots, pineapple, ginger with few drops of echinacea (BOOTS over the counter)) on regular basis will go a long way.

Lemon/hot water/honey is an obvious one, again on regular basis.

Been dissolving vit C capsules in water all week at work. Also felt something coming on Friday so took yesterday off under the Duvet, drinking lemsips and honey, green tea and echinacea (as suggested by 911 above). If you have enough fruit and veg in your diet you generally don't need to supplement. Have freshly squeezed orange juice in the fridge. Cranberry Juice is great for vit C also. If you have a head cold however the most important thing is rest. Colds can linger for ages if you don't knock them on the head and the body has amazing powers of recovery when resting!
