    hi all
went out for a few duck last nite with my 8th month old springer, didnt manage to get any:( lot of water about.. anyway on the way back to the jeep came across this lad sniffing away:D...

    Pic 1

    Pic 2

twas a worth while journey after all, especially as the springer tracked and retrieved the young fox when he went into cover after i shot him:eek: shes turning out to be a cracker..

i never seen a springer retrieving a fox before but just wondering would it ruin a springer if i ad her hunting the odd fox out of cover as well as game??

(EDIT) Looks like pics were deleted...

good job. cant get the pics on this comp though.
personally letting your springer hunt a fox will do no harm. mine hunted any thing that came with fur or feather. he'd mark fox holes and dig rats. and he'd rag a fox like any terrier or hound, he'd still flush and retrieve a rooster. a rough shooting dog should hunt what in front of him, imo. a purist game shooter will disgree i'd say.
