Look's like today could be the day we called time of death on the stockmarkets and the worldwide economy.

This is After Hours, the world could be melting around our ears and we'd still be in here making fun of it.

    You know why?

Because the people of After Hours offer consistancy in a world gone mad.

Yeah it's serious. But the sooner the day of reckoning comes, the quicker we can put it behind us and start moving back upwards again, that's my 2 cents worth...

At the end of the day Tyler tried to warn us about this.

That just about sums it up, because that's what we'll have spare after the next budget, between all of us.:(

Do people actually think that we are about to end up in an "I AM LEGEND" scenario?

Yes we are going through a recession, we are in a U type recession. Yes, its bad but we are not going to die and the majority of our jobs will be safe. The ERSI predicts and I would agree, that we will be in a recession until the end of 2009. Think about how fast 12 months go!!!

We will be fine. Some people will come out ok, some people will get burnt. Such is life. If you are worried about it, get off your arse and work harder to make sure you come out unscaved.

Basically we are all ****ed. We should end up having less money to spend, on more expensive things and possibly job less and homeless.

    Just like the boom.

The death of capitalism. Sounds gravy, today is my last day in my job after being made redundant. I think along with my toast to unemployment I'll toast to the death of capitalism. Should of listened to Karl Marx :p

The indexes that you hear crumbling around you are calculated using the value of shares for the top 100 companies in that particular region. As companies loose value, and financial integrity they're suddenly not worth what they were. This will also affect the futures (commodities, like usual price of oil) and options (opportunities, agreements to sell at certain prices) which means that the chances of a recovery are affected. The value of pensions etc could be wiped by this if they're invested in some of these companies.

    That's really basic though. ;)

I don't think there is anything wroung with capitalism, just the particular flavour of it that we've been seeing in recent years is very accomodative of greed. If the rules were straightened out a bit better and enforced, things would be fine.

I tried that but the notes got all soggy and stained from pumpkin juice. Shops wouldn't accept the cash because they said it looked like someone wiped their piles on it.

A sock buried in the garden, of course.

Now, I know little about anything, but aren't these things cyclical? So if everyone is selling their shares, we should buy them up as quickly as possible. We weather the storm for a little while and then when everything picks up we'll all be billionaires. And in the unlikely case that civilisation ends, money will be useless anyway, so we can't lose. Or so goes my underserstanding...

Your man who was the CEO of Lehman Brothers could hardly keep a straight face the other day when he was being quizzed about the HALF A BILLION Dollar he had payed himself since 2000! Then he starts saying the figures are out by a couple of million and starts getting his knickers in a knot over this!!!

    Da worlds gone fuukin mad!!!
