The link between skirt lengths and economic prosperity is well established: the better off women feel, the higher the hemlines. We must be in for some really tough times ahead because while walking through Stephen's Green a few minutes ago, I spotted a group of five schoolgirls all in ankle-length skirts but still wearing Dubes. From the colour of the uniform they must have been from Loreto College.
