    Hi guys,

The story is this...I want to buy a proper bat, the only problem is that I am a corkman like. No intention of going to Dublin, So I was going to buy online-Puma Ballistic 6000-€200 Now as far as I am concerned this is a steal-But I am apprehensive about buying a bat online, after all I haven’t even picked it up!. Should I take the plunge and drop the notes? I am a student with little money-But I think that this would be a wise investment....still apprehensive. What do ye reckon?

Personally I'd never buy a bat online. You need to feel the weight of it, ensure the pickup suits you, generally be happy that it "feels" right. €200 is a lot of money to spend to be unhappy with something.

Do you play regularly, or is this for back-garden fun games? If the former, you might save yourself money by coming to Dublin in March & visiting Ed Sports, if the latter it doesn't really matter but I don't think I'd spend 200 lids to mess about.

Please note that my batting skills are poor, so the above may be horsesh*t. Mind you, my highest score is against an International XI...

Well I play in the Munster leauge , and mix around within the divisions so I always play 1 match a weekend usually 2 including T-20 matches during the week any taverners match thats on plus training twice weekley with 30 mins in the net at each session. I also want a good bat for the varsities next year...I don't have a problem spending money on kit-It's the whole not picking it up problem, It weighes 2.7lbs which is the correct weight as I like a light bat so I reckon that I might give it a go. E.D sports offers a fantasitc service but for the same money I would only be able to get a midrange kokabura. This Puma is the flagship model It would cost around €350 here..

Fair enough - sounds like you play a lot of cricket so you need a bat that'll stand up to the punishment.

Mind you, I used to play an immense amount of cricket and my bat was hardly marked...
