It probably comes as NTFS file system though, so you might have to reformat to FAT32

The OP is planning to use it externally rather than putting it into the PS3.

I got one of those for my ps3, ordered it from Komplett for roughly €112 incl postage. It is fat32. I had an initial problem of not being able to double-click it on My Computer on my pc to access the drive, I had to right-click to open it, but after an e-mail to the makers it was sorted (had to go to File - Properties - autoplay and disable them all if I remember correctly).

As I said, it works great, just turn on the ps3 and all my movies, music etc are there to enjoy:)

Yeah I know, Swissknife will still change it from NTFS to FAT32 which is needed for external hdd's also. Most external drives I've seen are NTFS out of box.

Most come preformatted with FAT32 so as to be multi platform/OS. Girlfriend bought a mybook recently and this was the case. So i wouldnt worry too much about that.

Problem is if you have files over 4gig they might not transfer properly. Which makes HD movies/rips a pain in the hole. I suggest streaming with a wired connection and tversity for that.

Whoops, silly me. I thought you were advocating breaking it open with a swiss army knife. :o
