Confidential information on people who registered for the M50 Toll plaza posted on the Westlink website for every Tom Dick and Harry to view. Information included names, addresses, registration details etc.

They have resolved the problem with an apology. You cannot trust anyone these days and thank God I have yet to cross this thing in a car or van and if I have to travell that direction I will set my GPS to toll avoidance option to avoid this continuous mess.

GPS? You're voluntarily giving up your location to the government, the CIA, McDonalds and Dr. Fu Manchu?

Jesus, you can't even repost the data correctly from your own link.

They weren't posted for everyone to see as you imply, you had to tinker with the website to get at it. granted it was a security hole, but it's not like they decided
"lads, lets post everyones details, shure it'll be mad craic"

Your tinfoil hat is clearly on too tight.

    I like the op's threads.

Even if you don't agree with pretty much 100% of what he says, seeing what other people think of them is usually far more entertaining than the normal AH "Irish women are ugly" banality. The "National Lottery is insensitive" was a particularly good one. Takes a particular skill to make mountains out of molehills. I bet he's nowhere near as paranoid as he seems though.

Oh yeah OT I'd be annoyed with people putting my details online. Even just because of direct mailers etc.

You really have no idea how they work do you? It doesnt transmit to your device it just broadcasts a signal over an area. Conspiracy theory forum is where you belong

    Yes, obviously.
And they've sent me to stop your fine work....

or i know how to read what's infront of me, not what i wish was there and i have more than a passing knowledge of how computers work.

There are not enough facepalms for the kind of shit you post.

    Also - "Obviously".
That word does not mean what you think it means.

Haha it always amuses me when people suggest a GPS can be tracked. They cant as simple as that. The recieve signals from GPS satelites. GPS signal is broadcast everywhere so your GPS doesnt need to do anything other than recieve it.

Jesus, as above, it was not posted up for anyone to see that visited the site.

Theres another site that has all these details available to anyone thats been up for years without anyone moaning, the NCT. All you need is a reg, from that you can work out roughly when it was registered. Then you just do the leg work and the details will pop up.

But, the main point is, who cares? Anyone who's in the phone book already has their details printed millions of times in a big free book.

It is the principal of the whole thing. We were forced into an electronic tagging / ANPR system without choice. Many of us like myself would have preferred if they still left us the option of a single cash lane (as they have in France at NO EXTRA CHARGE) But no we had to accept this system whether we wanted it or not.

We were assured our registration details with the NRA would be kept completely confidential if we were to use this bridge under this new system, It was an assurance that many of us accepted before giving out our personal details to them. They let us down on this one.

For those that do not want their name address and phone number published in a big free book can choose to be ex directory.

It was only last Monday I that was reading an article in the Irish Times about identity theft. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2008/1007/1223332518289.html

Actually that bit I agree with. I also hate the bloody ads for the toll. Blue people being soooooo happy that they're able to pay more.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Yes but the Thom's Dublin Street Directory dose not give out personal details of motorists, including their names, addresses, car registration plates and exact times that they past a said point on the M50.

might as well go through the bin too while you're at it
