Trading in a guitar. Shops in Dublin & Cork

    Hello,

Not sure if I can post this, so hopefully not breaching rules..
I'm trying to sell a guitar at the moment, and am not having much look online. It's not a crap guitar, but not a top end either. It's decent though, with good hardware.

Now, I'm thinking of trading it for a banjo.

I did trade an old semi acoustic years ago in Cork, and took a bit less than what I may have gotten if I had sold it privatley, but I just wanted shut of it, so wasn't too bothered at the time.

Is it usually easier if I was trading an electric for an electric, or does it really matter.

So, I know of a few shops in Cork I could try and trade with, but I wouldn't mind finding out about Dublin, as I'd be also more interested in shops with a nice banjo selection that may do a trade.....

Indeed if anyone from anywhere else in Ireland has some suggestions about shops in their town (bar Limerick, as I'm from there, and it's a no no for trades..)

What guitar is it? I know a lot of shops take trade ins, but not if it's something on the cheaper side of things, as it wouldn't be worth their while.

Would you share the Cork ones please, I am looking at upgrading at the moment.

It wouldn't matter if you are trading in an electric against another electric. The value or offer that the shop owner gives you is what counts. Having said that you won't get the full value of it because the shop then must sell it on to make a profit. You would be better off selling it privately.

You should try some irish websites and email them to see if they are interested. My nearby shop is 'Beat It' in Blackrock, Dundalk, which is very far from you. But they have some banjo's alright, as the owner Connor plays something like that.

guitar is an ESP/Ltd Viper . I can't see myself getting much for it in a trade in, but I did spot a brand new one for +700e on a shop on the quays a year ago

prob will have to take a hit on it privately or in a shop

Is it the ESP-Viper on adverts.ie?

If so, no offence, but you've 6 pages of daily (and often twice daily) bumps. That would put most people off buying anything, it seems way too desperate and annoying.

I would say just relax, sometimes things take time to sell, constant bumping rarely makes a difference, just puts people off the seller.

yeah tis on adverts. I didn't think people would get peed off, I was only bumping it to keep it up as high as I can. If I leave it, it'll slip way down. Suppose I might relist it....

Well, if you're posting daily bumps for page after page, it just makes you look really desperate, and also makes it look like nobody wants the guitar. All that does is attract low-ballers trying to take advantage, theres a few on your ad and im not surprised.

Better off just to bump once a week or so and be patient, if its priced well it'll go eventually.

It does display. The Newbies forum is where you ask questions like that.
