Printing Square Cropped Pics

    Hi

Does anyone know where I can print out either 8"x8" or 12"x12" prints from one of those photo machines you see in the shops? I need the prints fairly quickly so I haven't got the time to do it online and wait for them to be posted out to me. Most of the ones I have come across only do standard photo sizes.

Quality isn't really too much of an issue at the minute as they are for test purposes only.

I'm in the Dublin/North Kildare area.

    Thanks

Just get them printed on 8x12 and cut them, size them to 8x8 on and 8x12 sized sheet in photoshop and cut off the excess after.

I assume you have them in square format? Even the basic software which came with your camera must allow you to crop to a ratio of 1:1 (square).

Just load your jpg onto the machine and select a size with smaller side the size that you want square i.e. if you were to print a 4x4, select a 4x6, if 8x8 then go for an 8x10. Make sure to do a preview and don't allow the machine to do a 'best fit'.

You should get your image at the desired size - say 8x8 with a small white border on either size of the print which you then cut off with a blade.

I hope i've understood what you are trying to do. The above works for me anyhow.

    Cheers.

Places like harvey norman have basic editing software on their printing machines.

Yea, I have them cropped to 1:1 already. That sounds like a plan above so I'll give the 12x8 a try and cut off the white. Thanks again

one thing to be careful about, some of those machines for printing will expand the image to fill the page

you need to make sure to make them not crop the image in anyway
