Geforce 7800gt vs 9400/9500gt

would the 9400 be a lot worse than the 7800gt? i just want it for playing quake 3 based games, maybe a couple of other things at 1680x1050 in linux. I have the 7800gt right now and the fan is a noisy bastard of a thing so i'm thinking of getting a 9400 or 9500 with just a heatsink on it and sell the 7800 so the whole thing…
