Changeling (New Clint Eastwood movie)

Clint Eastwood has directed a new movie called Changeling. Its out in the states later this month and stars Angelina Jolie in a true story about a mother looking for her missing son in 1920's Los Angeles. The trailer looks really good. http://www.apple.com/trailers/universal/changeling/

Saw the trailer for this in the cinema and was very impressed.. particularly with Jolie, she seems to have put in a really good performance.

The word coming out of New York Film Festival press screenings about Clint Eastwood's new film, The Changeling, is not good. In fact, that movie sounds like it sucks, like it's a joke. Ed Douglas of Coming Soon has Twittered that he'll be giving the film a 2 out of 10; Karina Longworth of Spout has this memorable drinking game for the movie:

We drink every time Angelina hysterically proclaims, “He’s not my son!” We get very drunk, and this may be why we can’t figure out why Clint Eastwood made a cheap-looking Lifetime movie that eventually turns into an “And justice for all!” episode of SVU. Just when the drinking game is starting to get really out of control, there’s a twist so shocking that it’s punctuated by two inches of ash falling off a policeman’s cigarette … in slow motion.

Ouch. This is a reversal from Cannes; Cinematical's Kim Voynar loved the **** out of the movie in France. Considering the fact that I think that Eastwood is a big naked emperor these days, I'm leaning towards believing the negative nancies.

In the meantime, enjoy this horrific new poster for the film, which makes Angelina Jolie look like the gun-spitting head from Zardoz. Guns good, penis bad!

It got a very good write-up in last month's Sight & Sound, but the piece seemed to be more full of praise for Eastwood himself than the movie.

Refering back to our earlyier thread with Taken you just cant read too much into what people say regarding films. Some reviews for this are going to be OTT positive because of eastwoods envolvement and some people just love to sh.it on films.

I personally believe it looks pretty good, I really like JM and AJ looks like she does a good job, My advice would be watch the trailer and decide for yourself.

Eastwood is such a boring director! Can't stand most of his (directed) movies, Mystic River probably being his best. Space Cowboys was a laugh though:D

I'd say that's based more on who the director is/the subject matter rather than the quality of the film
