What happened to Paul Hyland

What the hell happened to him at the weekend????? He was comprehensively beaten on the scorecards after being dropped and word has it that his jaw was broken . I never liked his attitude as he always taught he was a lot better than he actually is and had a habit of calling out Dunne quite regularly but then again walshb did think that Hyland would beat Dunne :eek::eek:

It looks like he fell on his sword but wasnt helped by his handlers who allowed a late change of opponent AND allowed him to fight a 4 rounder, what were they thinking, anyone can get tagged but he would have had a mountain to climb after the knockdown with only 4 rds!!!!! also he needs to open his horizons to another trainer if he is to have any hope of progression

The fight was over 4 rds?

How is this, considering he went 10 rds in an impressive display
    V Callaghan!

I'm sorry, but you cannot take this as any indicator as to how a bout with Dunne
would unfold. It's 4 bloody rds; some fighters are only getting warmed up after
    4 rds.

pauls a very skillful fighter but him fighting over four rounds was a complete stupid mistake.I think he could outbox most good boxers but he just ain't got the punch to slow lads down.It all come down to having him only boxing four rounds, probably been too cocky cause he goes on like he can throw bombs when he can't.
Lets hope the hylands learn from ther mistakes cause paddy seems to be getting stronger and needs to be led on the right road.

lads, he's only out of the amateurs and used to 4 rounds, this shows that he's not that good as he should be able to win over any time scale, dunne is way better than him over 4 or 12 rounds, if you believe otherwise your deluded or just anti dunne. .

cowzerp he has been a pro since 2004, he has been far too inactive and his last 2 fights were an 8 and a 10 rounder so why on earth he ended up involved in a 4 rounder is baffling, very badly handled in my opinion but he himself has (or at least should have) the last say in the matter, i just dont think that it can be helpful having a father as a trainer as its harder to thrash things out business like.... but I do agree with you that he is on a completely different level to dunne and yeah to think differently would indeed be deluded

    :)

For all those who suggest Hyland would stand a chance against Dunne :pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac::pac:

4 rds is stil 4 rds, and I have to question why the bout was 4 rds when Hyland has fought several fights at 6-8-10 rds?

As for the Dunne bout, we can only discuss that when they meet. I think it would be a good and close fight. I cannot see a Dunne KO or TKO; hence, this bout goes the distance.

Now, is Dunne so superior that he can win comfortably?

Is he really that much better in terms of speed and skill?

I think not! Bernard has no real physical advantage either. It's down to
who can throw the most and the most fast shots. IMO, it's a toss up!

He's way more skillfull and faster and has a better defense, and also hits harder, Hyland is feather fisted, this would be a easy win, late stoppage or landslide victory tbh..

I agree, Paulie was starting to impress me but there's always something about him which makes him seem someone vulnerable or not as good as he seems.
His fight before Callaghan(where he did a very good job) he looked very unimpressive against a shockingly bad opponent.

American journeymen(outside the midwest) are a hell of a lot tougher than the ones we have over here, I wouldn't be shocked if he was just beaten by the better fighter.

Paulie is slower than Dunne, he's got worse defense, doesn't hit as hard, isn't as accurate, doesn't throw combos aswell, is less experienced, now also has questions about his chin and he fights in a similar(ish) style to Dunne so it's not like he'd give Dunne trouble that way.

Before his defeat at the weekend I reckoned Dunne would beat him comfortably on points. Now I reckon by stoppage.

I agree with the last two posters....no matter what you opinion is of Dunne Hyland is a poor mans version of Bernard.
