If you had to lose a sense...

    ... Which would you lose?

    Ability to:

    See
    Hear
    Taste
    Touch
    Smell

I think Smell is the least useful, but i think i'd go with losing the ability to Taste. Everything would taste the same (not taste at all) so imagine how much weight you'd lose :pac:

I can't really think of any downside to it though, except that you'd probably miss the taste of chocolate/tayto/whatever you like.

My sixth sense...the ability to see dead people is wasted on me.

    You should get into necrophilia.

One is inclined to select the sense of smell to be the sacrificed.... but one would miss the smell of one's own farts.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Taste, then I'd be able to wear most of the stuff in the back of my wardrobe again.

Smell is a good early warning system to prevent suffocation at the hands of toxic fumes.

I'd get rid of taste. Yes I'd miss the taste of delicious things but at least i would eat more healthy food.

    Spidey sense, definitely. :)

If you can't smell can you still taste? That one confuses me, thought they were linked. I would get rid of smell, though in the poll I accidentally chose taste as I am quite tired..

    No. And they are.

I would ditch hearing. No more nagging. Though I'd have to give up my choons. But I could still hum them in my head or put on something with big bass.

I don't think I could ever give up taste/smell, two of the finer senses of life. People underestimate how hard that would be. I could still watch my programmes with subtitles and being a fan of Non English speaking films this is something I do frequently anyway.

But think of it so: Which is the least indispensable for daycent shex?

    A) Sight. you need to know who or what you're screwing
B)Taste. I love those creamy thighs and that cabernet tinged toungue. Meow babes.
    C) Touch. Really now?
    D) Smell, that Eau Clarins perfume and those phermones.
    E) Hearing? Talking ruins quality fcking. And screamers are overrated and annoying. Go watch When Harry Met Sally you pussy. Will miss headboard >>> Wall though. And a few of the other acoustical stimuli.

what about sense of balance? It'd be great you'd be constantly drunk but without the priviledge of having your wallet raped too

I only learned that these 'extra' senses were recognised recently, through the good people in the QI book (they're in there, I swear). And the second I read the thread title I though balance!!

Smell. Though isn't smell like 25% of the taste of stuff?

I'd give up my sense to see.

I am sick of seeing Mary Harney's fat face on tv being blamed over another scandal.

I'd get rid of touch. Although then you might not notice if you put your hand on the cooker...
But, you could also use that as a bad ass party trick...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,383 ✭✭✭emeraldstar

Of the 5 main ones, definitely lose taste. The others are more important.

I was going to post a few pages pack that I wouldn't mind losing my sense of urgency, but I obviously already lost it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,473 ✭✭✭R0ot

Was tide between taste and smell, but smell in the end seems the better of the two as I like the spicy taste of my Cajun chicken and a nice chilli sauce on my subway!

To the few that chose touch, ARE YOU INSANE or just not getting any? :pac:

    Any of the above minus......sight.
The possibly of totally losing my sight scares me moreso than Death itself.
Wouldn't mind the lack of smell. Urban areas can stink so bad.
