We all know that the Boosh boys have an album coming out soon, with a film not far behind that. But beyond those, what do you reckon they'll do? Will they continue to just tour? Will they bring the band on the road as just a band instead of part of a stage show? Will there be a season 4? What do you reckon?

I dunno. I saw the Mighty Boosh live dvd recently. Have to say it is one of the most disappointing standup shows I have possibly ever seen. After loving the show for ages I was really looking forward to viewing this. But it in fact only had the effect of totally putting me off of ever seeing them live again.
That and the awful awful nonsense on Jonathan ross.

Their early live shows are rubbish tbh, but I've heard good things about their new stuff. There's much more music in the new shows apparently which sold me.

Don't mention Johnathan Ross! That was hideous

    You saw that too?
    Wasn't it cringeworthily bad?
Mates of mine texted me afterwards going "I can't believe you like the Mighty boosh. That was utter ****e" and similar.
    Couldnt disagree TBH.

I was introduced to the Boosh via the live show and I thought it was one of the funniest things I'd seen a long time. The pie sketch alone is worth buying the disc! The Jonathon Ross thing was awful but the current live show isn't a patch on the DVD one. The music is good though.

Yeah, I was talking to my mam afterwards and she was like "THAT'S the mighty boosh?"

I actually said "No, it isn't."

Technically it isn't... I couldn't believe how bad it was

i think they might just get so popular that they stop really needing to put any effort into live shows and appearences, you can see it happening already really, which is sad :(

Noel and Julian need to move on from the Boosh pretty soon. It's getting pretty near the end of it's course.

think i'd be surprised to see a fourth series. maybe in a few years, they'll think it'll be a laugh to try it again, but i dont think we'll see a fourth series any time soon.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 21,448 ✭✭✭✭Cupcake_Crisis

theres a HOOOOOOGE demand for a fourth series tho, probably more than there was for a second or third

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 337 ✭✭Ash_M

    <SNIP>

im a total boosh obssesive to the point were i will basically worship anything noel & julian do, but i don't want a fourth series if its just half-arsed. that being said, if they put the effort into it, i would kill for a fourth series. so you know.

MOD EDIT: Please don't mention the gig here.. there is numerous threads around the forum stating this.. it will not be tolerated!

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/hi/entertainment/newsid_7683000/7683843.stm
Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, aka Vince Noir and Howard Moon, are sat backstage at Brixton Academy surrounded by gifts from fans, Pot Noodles and sweets.

They've just begun a massive three-month tour round England, Scotland and Wales but they're already thinking about the next step.

The duo say breaking the States is definitely high on their list.

Read Newsbeat's review of The Mighty Boosh's new live show

Barratt told Newsbeat: "I don't think we'd do an American version of what we do.

"Obviously Little Britain had to be an American version. Our thing would just be our thing, just more of the same.

"They're interested in it. They're just waiting and trying to figure out how we would approach it over in the States."

It's clear from the duo's fan base that they get worldwide support.

Fielding said: "There's some girls outside from Portugal today. Beautiful Portuguese professors. They all look like Penelope Cruz."

    Boosh film

There has been a lot of expectation around the idea of a Mighty Boosh film, which sounds like it could become a reality.

Fielding said: "We've done three TV shows, a radio show, three Edinburgh shows, two live shows, a book, there's lots of things we want to do."

Barratt said: "We're working on scripts, storyboards, ideas."

Fielding added: "We're not sure what sort of film to do actually. We might do an animation.

"We might do a film with two characters from the show, we might do Vince and Howard.

"There's definitely a Vince and Howard thing to be done but there's also maybe a character thing. There's also a sort of musical thing.

"We've got a lot we could and it's just trying to work out what we want to do next really. It's nice to sort of change it up a bit so you keep it fresh."

The last series only came out last year, I doubt they even have much time to do a 4th anytime soon.

I really hope they don't try and break into the American market, it would change the show far too much. A movie could be good but Im not sure.

i duno, i can't quite picture them changing a whole lot. ive mates in america ive shown the show to and they love it! i think, in the same way that the boosh doesnt seem to have captured, dare i say it, the more 'mainstream' elements of england/ireland/new zealand, i can't imagine them changing for the sake of mainstream america.

Don't think there's any chance of a 4th series - they haven't been commissioned to do one. Movie is very likely though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,196 ✭✭✭Crumble Froo

as far as the commission element goes, im sure they could get it if they wanted it. not like it's an entirely unpopular show or anything (surely, the boosh have more fans than those crisps and lager guys?!). i think it'd be interesting to not hear from them for a couple of years, and for htem to take the time off, stop touring, stop doing gigs, etc etc, and come up with a whole heap of brand new material. i know they're probably afriad that they'll lose their momentum nad people will forget about them if they dont keep reminding us that they're here, but as far as quality goes, i think they could do well to lay low for a lil while, and then get back together and see if they wana still do the boohs, and where they can take it.

not that that's all that likely to happen... just an opinion on my part :)

Really enjoying The Mighty Boosh right now (got into it very late). They are writing at the moment, both on the film and a new long term production (presumably season 4, but not confirmed). I think they should try and break into the Canadian or Australian markets instead of the United States. It will be difficult for their humour to appeal to the US market. Touring is also another option, it has really worked for Al Murray after Time Gentlemen Please finished it's tv run.

i know quite a few ozzies who are into it, as well as it having been shown on telly in new zaealand for monday nights (it's not on now though, as season three's well finished). i think th sense of humour over here is waaay more suitable for these guys, but how and ever, im sure we'll know soon enough how they get on in hte states.

I just saw the new live show at Wembley last night and really enjoyed it. I have the Live DVD but haven't ever watched it all the way through :o (just didn't think it compared that well to the studio material) but last night's show was absolutely great. I hope they do get the album out, the song performances were great last night (particularly their dig back at the Sugar Puff Monster for that crappy ad earlier in the year). At the very end of the show they did three songs performing effectively as "just a band" rather than as a stage show and the crowd loved it (well, except for the people who left straight away rather than hang about for 60 seconds to see if there was an enconre). I tried to get some of it on my phone but alas, I faild :(

Going forward, I'd quite like to see a fourth series, if anything more so than a film. I know there'd probably be more money in a film, but I'm not sure the whole thing would actually work that well. An American version sounds horrible, although I can understand why they'd want to do it to some extent.

What happened on Jonathon Ross? Sorry, bit out of the loop. Was it a sketch gone horribly wrong?

    Nope.
They played live at the end so it was just diabolically piss poor.

    Youtube probably have a link...
I dunno if we can post them here?

Ah I see. Tbh I was disappointed when I heard series three was coming out, and I couldn't enjoy it when it was finally aired. They were at their best without a budget :p

I wholeheartedly agree. I never appreciated the live show though. The first two seasons are excellent but it's had its day to be fair.

OMFG. Thumbs down to that performance. :(
