Didn't think much of it myself... The controls just felt really clunky and awkward.
I know that the bulk of the game will be user created levels, but if the basic mechanics of the game are crap, then even that won't save it for me.

Others seem to love it though, so I guess I'll be in the minority here... (a bad mood and hangover are affecting my opinion right now as well:o)

Sackboy is a pretty lovable character, and will make a good mascot for Sony. (have they even had a proper one since Crash Bandicoot?)

Easily game of the year (and I never would have thought that before the beta)

It just keeps getting better too.

    This has me speechless

The amount of potential is endless and there's already so many great levels appearing. Creating stuff yourself is really addictive too, I wasn't planning to do any creating at all but it drew me in. The real jewel in the crown is the multiplayer though, never has a platform game been so much fun as with four extremely animated characters co-operating and competing as they go along.

It's not completely flawless, the controls take a bit of getting used to because it's not completely 2D, there are 3 'layers' you can move in and out from, and it happens automatically sometimes which can be annoying. Once you get the hang of it it's brilliant though. It's all physics based which means it can do so much more than your standard platformer, utilising momentum, moving platforms, angled floors, springs etc. to allow for varied jumping distances in realistic ways, rather than simple pixel perfect jumps of older platform games.

I've been playing it the last few days and I'm loving it! It's one of the few games I've played recently that's actually made my laugh out loud, and with good cause.

Myself and my girlfriend just grouped up with another 2 friends of ours and spent a few hours playing through a load of user-made levels. It was class; nothing I've played recently is near as much pure fun to play, especially in a group.

I reckon Sony are on to a winner here; my girlfriend hates most videogames but can't get enough of this, and I reckon most others will be the same.

Wait, what? I though this wasn't out until the 24th...

Edit: Nevermind, just twigged the beta keys thing.

    +1

I was going to leech off of others levels to prolong the game as I thought my creating skills would be crap... and fair enough, they are but I have still made some levels that I have actually impressed myself with.

can you play multiplayer on the same system though??

Yup. Up to 4 players. I'm not sure if you can have a mixture of local and online players (Like, you and one person in your living room and 2 online players) or if it has to be all-local/all-online.

Can't wait for this to come out. Missed out on the first couple of beta giveaways and decided to give up on it. I plan on getting ahead with my study/projects at college so I'll have more free tim when the full game comes out. :D

Like other posters I found the control system cumbersome. Played through the included beta levels and a fair few of the user made levels in single player and while interesting at first, quickly became tiresome. Maybe this game is meant to played in co-op mode online to get the most out of it, but so far most of the levels I have come accross didn't require 2 players to complete. So I can't see what difference online would make to the gameplay. Plus, since I have no creativity and generally dislike people, I don't think this game is going to be for me somehow. :D
