Hi could anyone recommend a good tailor in Dublin. I have recently purchased two rather expensive suits from America that I am looking to have tailored to fit and am not sure for any decent tailors in Dublin.
Obviously I am nervous to just go along to any old tailor as the suits were really expensive and any mistakes would ruin the suits.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I know of a great tailor on Capel street, Denis Darcy. I'll try to route out his card here and send you his number. He's on the very end of Capel St. (North end).

What are you planning on getting done? Reducing the size or just some minor tweaks? Reason I ask is that you can easily ruin the drape of the suit with drastic alterations.

    Hi Patrick

Thanks for the post. I would be very interested in getting Denis's number off you. If not I will head down Capel street and see if I can find him myself. What is the name of his company?

I am not looking to have major changes made, just a few tweaks here and there, but want to make sure a decent tailor does them.

Many thanks for your reply and look forward to getting his number.

    Cheers
    Brendan

    No problem.

    His number is +353 (0) 1 873 2256. Address: 65 Capel Street.

    Surprisingly I found his details on-line: http://www.citikey.com/business/11007662/

It's literally a one man show. He's a traditional tailor, does a lot of tailored costume work for theatres. A friend of mine bought two tailored suits from him, not cheap at about €700 each. Also had some alterations done on a Brown Thomas off-the-rack and came out fine. No issues, he'll do a great job. Just don't be put off by the old school set-up he has :)

Could cost you €50 just for the jacket.

Let me know how you get on,

    -Patrick.

    Patrick thanks for the info.

I will give him a call today. The price doesnt matter so long as he can do a good job and it seems as though he knows what he is doing. I have always been against taking my suits to your Louis Copeland types as I like dealing with the old school sole trader types...more personalised.

Anyway i will let you know how I get on.

    Cheers

Well Louis Copeland, are still pretty much family run. I had a Jacket done by someone Copeland, think it was his son.
