Im gonna be going to Sofia working for a few months this winter, just wondering if anyone has skied on Vitosha Mtn.
Its very close to the city so might be a sweet spot to head to at the weekend? Also does it snow much in Sofia during the winter months?

I skiied in Borovets which I think is only about 90 mins for Sofia. That was about 10 years ago. Skiing was OK due to huge dump os snow before I arrived but I think the snow record is poor generally. I think they've improved the lifts a bit since. From what I heard Vitosha Mtn at the time was only skiied by Bulgarians, i.e. no western tourists, but that could easily have changed. Night life in Borovets was great, and all very cheap back in the 90s.

see here for more info on Vitosha:

I was in Borovets in bulgaria last season and i am goign again this season the last week in january.
Last season there was lots of snow on the slopes and it even snowed for a few days aswell. The bottom slopes can get a bit icey because of the amount of people on them( Beginners ). But up at the top of the mountain the snow is perfect

I have an apartment in Bansko. It's a bit of a weird place, the town that is. But good fun all the same. As for the slopes, they can be ****e without enough snow, but quite good with. I loved the number 1 slope down to the town, good craic.
