Considering that there are indications of systemic risk, is anyone withdrawing money on deposit and paying off mortgage / loan debt in the event of a global financial collapse?

I work in the financial industry and cant say ive seen much of this, irish people have this tendency to have a lump sums of savings and debt and would rather get SFA in interest on their savings and pay loads of interest on their debt, than clear their debt quicker.
I personally woud rather have no savings and no debt than a lot of of both, in the long run it would be cheaper and you coud save more
