    Hey,

Getting married next summer and trying to sort out a wedding car. Have looked at all the usual sites and not really impressed. Dont want the usual kit car/fake classic/new merc/stretch limo thing at all. Would like something a bit different. Any suggestions? Would not rule out a 2 seater either (and drive myself obviously!).

Wedding is in Dublin, and if I had my choice of cars I would probably get a Ferrari/jag E-type or something like that. Or a 70s SL.

Why not post in the Classics section as well, worth a post. Or try a vintage club...Sure to be one in Dublin / Meath...

    Series 1 Land Rover Defender?!

Now that would be cool... and it really would be the ultimate test to see just how much grief your new lady-wife could take!!

Would try something more different than a Ferrari though. +1 on the driving yourself bit. I'm thinking an original Maserati Ghibli...

Personally I'd take the DB6. (especially if the wedding suit will give you a Bond look :) )

For my own wedding I drove my own 'classic',
a 1970 Triumph 1300 (was my daily driver a few years back, now sitting outside the door waiting for me to fix the front suspension :( )

Was recently at a wedding in Austria. They hired the biggest and newest Lexus available. Extremely luxurious, and super class.

I don't like the two seaters: not ideal at all when wearing a wedding dress!

Guy from home turned up in one of these. Two donoughts outside the church for good measue.

My aunt got loan of a LS430 + driver for free from a Lexus/Toyota dealership for her wedding. It helped that my Dad was changing his car there at the time.;)

Would Sports and Classic rent some of their exotica? I quite fancy a DB9 or an R8.

Try this crowd. They have a Jag E-Type and a Ferrari among others.

If Mrs David-to-be is thinking about a big wedding dress, forget about the two seater / tiny sports car. That would be the first desaster of your marriage right there and then.

Big dresses need big back seats and wide opening rear doors.

I reckon its not too big as she had suggested a Fiat 500 (the original of course). Ah sure I'll squeeze her in somehow i mean its not ALL about the dress is it?..............oh wait

Just got hitched 2 weeks ago, used a new M5 to to to church & a new 7 series leaving/collecting the bride. The vintage yokes may not have aircon to keep you cool (under pressure!) & also there is a greater chance if grease, etc. Getting on the dress.
Had a couple of 5 series Sports for bridesmaids, parents, etc.
I just borrowed them from friends & friends of friends.

I know that CityWest have a new Phantom but I think it's about €1,000 for the day, that would be cool.

closer to the time, why not have a look around carzone etc and see what's for sale. An owner with a car sitting there not selling would probably be more than willing to rent it for a day.

Not a bad idea, but how do you figure out whats been sitting for a long time in carzone? also there's the risk of running into all sort of dodgy guys too..

well it doesn't matter how long it's been there. It's money for nothing for them really. And if someone seems dodgy then avoid them and go to someone else!

my sis is gettin married next month. acting on a tip, she contacted a funeral director in her town, who had two daimler classics. one was all black, other black and white as funeral.

she tool a look at the black and white one, and loved it, plus its very big which suits the dress.
