An Post and Garda Vetting

    I'm applying for the casual christmas work in An Post and got the application form the other day. It has a Garda Vetting form and an application form.

    The vetting form says don't bring it to a Garda Station or the Garda Vetting Unit but bring it to the GPO. However i'm suppose to send both of the forms to a separate An Post address.

    Is it a simple case of you give it into the GPO who fill in their bits of the single Garda Vetting form and send it on to the Garda Vetting Unit who in turn send it back to you? Therefore you can send both forms onto the other An Post address it tells you to afterwards?

    Otherwise the instructions don't make much sense to me.

    You fill in your details of the Garda form, then An Post will look after it from there, so send them both together.

    Where did you pick up the form? In the post office, GPO or FAS or something?

    Nah the aul lad works with them and got me an application form. I don't think they're actively looking yet but it must be soon.

    A friend of mine did this job last year - her father works for An Post and I can tell you, the jobs fill themselves through the family members of existing employees being drafted in. I have emailed An Post asking whether it would be possible to get an app form just to see their response, I will post it here when they respond. I wouldn't be banking on any of us being employed there unless you know someone though!
