I'm listening to Dave Pearce live on BBC 6MUSIC now at the moment.
I was aware of his name but knew nothing else. I'm quite enjoying it really...

Can anyone recommend a good compilation to buy to listen to a bit more of this .....oh, and has anyone a 94 Civic with a overly reclined seat, a pint glass for an exhaust pipe and a body kit made from Corn Flake boxes ....??

i make trance all day paul.... you could make your own by sticking a mike in a dustbin and kicking it at 136bpm - you need to swap feet halfway through, trance experts call that the breakdown.

No, use one of these, then you can keep 'ahead' of the current Trance sound.... there are subtle variations of course.

it still never ceases to amaze me how the BBC have taken dance music and given it huge support in the UK.

The Essential Mixes are an institution at this stage, everyone decent has done one.

Pity feckin 2fm play the most rubbish dance music ever created (when they stop playing The Script and Snow Patrol).

Spin 103.8 have great shows at the weekend with Arveene and Barry Redsettaz (I know I'm surprised as you that Spin would ever play anything mildly listenable!).

And....the pirates are back. At the weekend anyway. 99.1 was playing a lot of old house on Friday night (not my type of thing but I'm glad the pirates are back).

    +100

Essential mix is tops. Never miss it. Tong is a cnut though. Should shut up.

Best EM I've heard in a long time was Peace Division a few wks back. One word. Superb.

Throw "Peace Division Essential Mix" into google & mp3 links are available. Well worth looking up.

i do think if your first getting into dance music, dave pearce and judge jules do a good job of introducing people to the less serious side of dance music.
commercial dance music can serve as a gateway for people who like it to get deeper into it.
recommending fantastic djs who play underground stuff might not be the best route to take when someone whos new to it wants recommendations.
i know if i heard some of the stuff i listened to these days back when i was begining to get into it i would be put right off but the more i got into t the more i liked the less commercial stuff but it was definitely the more popular dance music that got me hooked in the begining:D

I've heard of those Gatecrasher ones too - sounds like the sort of thing Tesco might have on their shelves... I shall go and investigate.

    Don't.

    Get EVERYTHING by Deadmau5.
    Start with Faxing Berlin.
There is a reason he's the biggest hottest thing of the past ten years. Really accessible but absolutely amazing.
